How it works
- 1. Add your names. One per line or comma-separated. Any number works — an odd count leaves one person unpaired, which the tool shows clearly.
- 2. Choose repeat handling. For a one-off draw, leave it off. For a session with several rounds, turn on Avoid repeat partners so people rotate.
- 3. Generate and run rounds. Hit Generate Pairs, then Next round for each subsequent draw. Copy the results to share with the group.

Frequently asked questions
How do I randomly pair up a list of people?
Paste your names one per line and click Generate Pairs. The list is shuffled and matched two at a time, so nobody can predict or influence who they end up with.
What happens if I have an odd number of people?
The last person is shown separately as having no partner for that round. Run another round and the shuffle will usually give them one — with Avoid repeat partners on, the tool spreads the odd position around rather than leaving the same person out each time.
Can I stop the same two people being paired again?
Yes. Turn on Avoid repeat partners and use Next round instead of Shuffle Again. Each round the tool tries hundreds of arrangements and keeps whichever repeats the fewest previous partnerships.
Can I use it for doubles in tennis or pickleball?
Yes — it's a common use. Generate pairs for each round of a social doubles session, with repeat avoidance on so players rotate through different partners across the evening.
Does it work for secret santa or buddy assignments?
It works for mutual pairings, where two people are matched with each other. It does not do one-way gift chains where A gives to B and B gives to C.
